Stephan Chandler
Since 1962, New Yorker Stephan Chandler has worn several musical hats as performer, composer, conductor, educator, and concert organizer . During the 60's and 70's while Stephan was earning his degrees at the Manhattan School of Music, he served as technical assistant to Dr. Howard Hanson and Elie Siegmeister, in addition to having performed under the baton of Aaron Copland, Dr. Frederick Fennel, and Sammy Spear, (Jackie Gleason's music director). Chandler's body of compositions have been heard in concerts and in radio broadcasts worldwide, most notably on National Public Radio and on The Voice of America. He founded and hosts the Cable-TV show "Musicmakers", a forum and showcase for local performing artists. Stephan's extensive study and involvement in early music performance practices began in 1984. He most recently served as associate music director of the New Valley Symphony Orchestra (Sherman Oaks, California), from 1995 to 2000.
